My channel is designed to deliver gardening tips and how-to videos along with showing my harvests. It's also a video log for me to look back on as I learn more and more about growing my own food for fun and for taste.
Please join my journey of discovery, learning and passion... I've waited years to grow my own food and despite my limited space, I have a HUGE desire to make it work.
Watch as I learn about gardening and comment when I do it wrong... I know I'll only get better as time goes on, but the journey will be most satisfying!

Notes:
The plum seeds that I am using in this series were purchased from an organic grocery store but I think these may have been hybrids now that I see the two types of plums (one may be a peach tree) growing. I left the plums in the fridge for more than 3 extra months - a form of stratification, if you will.
After several months in the cold fridge (when they were near rotting) I removed the seeds. Then I used a small hammer to crack the seed shell and remove the actual seeds.
Next, I tested the seeds for viability by soaking them in water for about an hour to ensure the seeds sank (this usually means that they are viable seeds).
I then used the wet paper towel/ziploc bag method to create a mini greenhouse for them and placed them in a warm dark place.
Finally, after 3 weeks, 2 of them sprouted. I waited another week to ensure the roots were healthy enough and there was some green seed leaves emerging before I transplanted them.
I am excited to see how these plum trees grow over the next several months.
Thanks again for watching!

How To Grow Pear Trees From Seed - 46 Months
I stumbled back into this video somehow- did any of the plums ripen yet? if so how where they!
Yes. I love these videos. However; maybe putting them back in the fridge for about 4 weeks would have yielded more germinated seeds. I love attempting to grow things. It’s the best feeling ever.
Love the heavy breating
Is there an ideal fridge temperature that will aid in the germination process?
Those are giant swallowtails that need citrus plants to survive. They’re not gonna kill either you nor your plant. You should consider yourself lucky to have such beautiful creatures in your yard.
what is the background music for your videos?
Will it be okay to sow it if it has already sprouted? Shall the leaves be already exposed to air and sunlight?
Thankyou Rob! 🙂
update on the peach tree?
So cute

Top it
Nice informative video thanks 🍀😊👍🌞
As soon as I heard your voice, I thought I was looking at a coin roll hunting video. Lol
Rob have you considered tying your scaffolding branches down to almost horizontal. This is supposed to make the tree fruit more. You might have to shorten some of your branches due to limited room in your garden. This guy explains it best. ua-cam.com/video/di5S9wpgrjc/v-deo.html
Planted my seed about 8 months ago and it’s an impressive 53cm tall sapling (I’m putting that down to talking to it every day with encouraging compliments and carefully wiping each leaf as I do🥰🤷🏻♂️)just got to wait several years to taste the fruits of my labour 🤞🏼
Anything fruiting on that yet?
so inspiring I have one honeychrisp apple tree that's 23 inch's Tall.
Can you prune leaves on cantaloupe plants?
God bless you for showing your educational video...gonna go and give it a try today
Wow Amazing
WOW 😲
Id rather drink from that barrel than municipal water!!
For me it was the opposite. The one's from water died and the one from soil is going strong (11 months) but he demands a lot of water. Didn't prune, maybe I should? I can't put it outside because it's not strong enough. He is tall (100cm) an skinny with not branching
Hi, Thanks for the video. We used to have mangoes growing in the garden in Swaziland and I never knew that there was a seed inside the nut. There were so many lovely sweet ripe mangoes that we just had to give them away. I used a large pair of wire cutters to snip around the edge of the nut then a large screwdriver which I twisted to open the shell. It worked well and much less danger of injury either to your hand or to the nut inside.
Did it work? I can’t find the next video
Any more updates on how the plum trees are doing I’m going to follow your instructions on how to grow them I’m about to move back to the country so I can start doing this and farming
I done some black walnuts and just kept them in moist soil over the winter. Never cracked them. They busted themselves. Thanks for the video. We've got some plums from our store bought trees and we're trying to propagate them. Are plums like apples? You can get them to grow, but more than likely, it will not be true to the parent tree? Just wondering.

I watched your video series from the first seedlings, very interesting. I purchased a plum tree that was about 4 ft tall from Home Depot. It is now in it second year and bearing fruit (I realize the HD does something to make this happen and I am the benefiter of that and not the cause). I found your video because I took one of my plums and I now starting to germinate the seed. My question is, should my seed grow into a tree and bear fruit in two years like its parent tree did?
No, my plum tree took more than 5 years to bear fruit and although it is possible to bear fruit sooner from seed, it is unlikely. Most fruit trees are grafted from an already fruit bearing tree which is why they produce much sooner.

If the sun gets on those dark pots the roots will cook, mulch the top with grass and paint the pots white 👍
Maybe put some aspirin in the water
So tiny❤
Wait… is this RFT Rob???!!!
can u give us an update on the kiwi's pls love u keep it green :)
Can i put those little seedlings directly on the ground instead of a container? Kondly confirm. Thank you.
Has this tree produced any fruit yet ?
First video I seen was the plum seed video today from 4/24/16 and now it’s here!! Immaculate 😊
here for some updates! & any pointers on the best way anyone has found to crack the shells?
I don’t put pear seeds in the fridge, they go from fresh fruit right into the dirt ! I have quite a few sprout but most turn black and die . Maybe not enough sunlight or too much water idk .
Do an update!!!
Yes their bellies look not flat anymore but fat and round 😂❤
The bellies are flat supposed to be fat and round I thought 😮
I use a long nose pair of pliers to hold the seed non-spilt side down on a flat stone and tap the hard casing with a hammer and they split open easily with a crack sound to reveal the seed inside.
Bro you look like John travolta from that movie called Paris in love . Lmao 🤣 right on man keep up the good work and thanks for the video. No offense intended.
Die they all die or did you abort them? 🤔Hope all is good.
Уважаемые сэр, зачем вы их тягаете туда-сюда???! Все нужно делать профессионально и с любовью, тем более с этими крохами, которые самые нежные и трусливые на свете.Берегите кроликов!!!!
Thanks infomation.😊
What if my vines i cut aren't brown mine are green
